Most folk don’t care for writing. Some do.
I am one of those who rather enjoys stringing a few words together to create something personal, something new and hopefully, something others will smile at when they sit with a cuppa and read it.
I have established this website to support a number of reasons. First reason is that I have recently achieved something personally quite special in my life;
A book I’ve written has been published!
If you’ve gotten this far already without heading back to Facebook, it’s a start.
Drawing Board to Docking Stations, is a memoir of my 50-year career in the oil and gas engineering industry as a lead piping designer. The occasional humorous stories touch on the changes from standing at a drawing board while chatting to a workmate in a smoke filled office in the seventies to sitting at a desk wearing a set of headphones in our present years with a laptop, docking station and twin monitors; and no space for books, manuals, specifications or copies of large drawings.

By the way CHATBGT shall never be used in my work, be it professional or recreational writing.
So, I like to write the occasional story. But, when it comes to sharing it with eighty friends and family, how should I actually do this? Print it off and drop it in the postbox?
Facebook may not be the right forum because you can’t insert a .pdf or .doc file onto a page. WhatsApp alike, does not take such files. And besides that, no-one wants to open up their FB page for a quick twenty minutes and see a thirteen-page diatribe from Mitch. In a heartbeat my name would be swiftly removed from a list of Friends, closely behind others who continually insist on posting images of beans on toast, a beef Wellington sauce or a pair of socks next to an umbrella.
I love my photography, too. So, I saw the website as an opportunity for me to plug some photos onto a page and include a line or two about the picture. Instagram is a great vehicle for sharing photos but sometimes, folk are reluctant to add any explanatory text.
So, this site is an effort for me to stay in touch, add some writing, drop in a few pictures and going forward try to be a bit more personable.
